What is POPP ?
Pet Over Population Prevention (POPP) is a 501(c)(3), local non-profit, all-volunteer, NO-Kill pet organization dedicated to promoting responsible pet ownership thus preventing the needless death and suffering of companion animals.
People contact POPP when they can no longer care for their pets. They have found a stray, are moving, allergic, or have too many pets, etc. Owners are responsible for altering their pets and for ensuring they are current on their vaccinations prior to enrollment in POPP. Assistance is available for altering pets through the spay/neuter assistance program. POPP's goal is to assist our community with affordable spaying or neutering of their pets and to find forever homes for abandoned and unwanted pets.
POPP is an all breed rescue organization. Pets are kept in foster homes until they find their "forever homes". POPP's policy is to foster pets for as long as it takes to find the best home.
POPP does not operate at a profit. The adoption fees and donations received in no way cover expenses. POPP does not buy or sell pets on a "consignment" basis. POPP is an all-volunteer organization. There are no set hours volunteers are available to the public. POPP volunteers adapt their commitment to pets with jobs and families. The cost of fostering, food, and veterinary care are supported by the generous contributions of concerned pet lovers.
The goals of our local volunteer organization are:
To help control pet over population
To prevent the needless deaths of abandoned and unwanted pets
To educate the public about pet population control and pet health
To make spaying and neutering of pets affordable
